WHO ARE WE?
Our Foundation
Holy Cross Healh Center is a private not for profit health institution (PNFP). It is a fruit of the late Rt Rev. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga then Bishop of Kasana-Luweero Diocese’s invitation to the congregation of the Sisters of Mercy of the Holy Cross to establish a health unit in Kikyusa to cater for the health needs of the people who are around this area. The Congregation responded to the invitation in September 2001 by sending two sisters
by the names of Sr. Louisa Thomas (Nakiwala) and Sr. Mariedita Kabajungu to reside at Kikyusa and to build up the health Centre. The Generalate of the Sisters of Mercy of the holy cross financed the entire project of purchasing the land, building, furnishing and the initial purchase of drugs and equipment. The construction work was completed by November 2002.
On 4th November 2002, the health Centre under the name of
Holy Cross Health Centre III started functioning.
The unit is registered by the Ministry of Health under the medical and dental practitioners’ council. The first certificate of license to the facility was issued on the 15th November 2002 and it has been renewed every year.
Holy cross health Centre IV is owned by the Sisters of Mercy of the Holy Cross and supervised by Kasana-Luweero Diocese.
